Truth Behind Art and Some Hair Envy
I recently saw "The Ides of March" with a friend and really appreciated the movie and it's edge-of-your-seat-storyline. I expected to enjoy the movie, considering the ultra strong male cast- George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Phillip Seymour Hoffman- and the 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film does a good job reflecting the duplicity that is so present in modern-day politics and the unfortunate insignificance of women in this field, and does it in a way that I believe translates to all people- knowledgeable or not on the subject of government. But anyways, you should really see it yourself, I do recommend it.
Now, to the hair envy! Marisa Tomei, plays a New York Times reporter covering the campaign and all the corruption involved, and seriously, I really adored her look. The super-side part, the big-framed glasses, the super-casual attire. I've read a couple reviews of the film, some claiming her to be frumpy and frantic. You know what, I don't get the whole frumpy thing, but messy, I would understand. And I'm okay with liking a totally messy character. It definitely worked for her. And besides, what else would a journalist for the New York Times covering a national political campaign look like?

Runnin' In Style
When I spend my days running around, which happens very often, I love to wear something comfortable but cute at the same time. Basically, my perfect everyday ensemble consists of a pair of distressed jeans, a graphic tee, and a pair of flat shoes. A small, polished (and sometimes bright) clutch adds just the perfect amount of charm and sophistication to my tee + jeans combination. These clutches from asos are absolutely perfect, and I will now add them to my wishlist. Pick up one of your own, they're only $36 and a great addition to any wardrobe.

"Like Crazy"
Before I attempt at sharing with you my feelings towards and opinions of this film, I want to say that you must see it. You must see it yourself to form an accurate opinion as I do believe I have a bit of a bias. (In the way that I am too much of a hopeless romantic and can relate to the characters..) Also, see it because it is just too hard to explain the intensity and beauty without watching.
Anna, played by Felicity Jones, is such a charming, natural, makes-you-forget-your-watching-an-actress-type character. (Also, she won best actress in Sundance for her work in this film.) I adored her. Jacob, played by Anton Yelchin, is a shy, and sort of naive character. They meet in class, form a incredible, unique, undeniably perfect connection that certainly gets tested when Anna must return home to the UK. Their relationship starts and stops over the years, however the intensity and magnitude of their love keeps them from ever truly letting go of one another. In the end, you wonder if the pain they have gone through over the years will ruin the incredible relationship they can have when they finally get the chance.
The subtly and honestly of the Like Crazy was, in my eyes, perfect. The chemistry between the characters was so believable and the storyline, and dialogue so real. You will leave the movie deep in thought and in appreciation for this honest portrayal of young love tested by the inevitable happenings of life.

Let's Start Over...
So, as I am officially the worst blogger ever, I just want to say- I am not that bad. I swear. I have been crazy busy with life. Though, I'm sure, most bloggers are and that is a terrible, overused excuse. It stops today! Also, I will be adding new tabs and this blog will be much more a lifestyle blog than a fashion blog. Just because there is so much more to me than only what I wear! Expect chit chat about music, movies, cosmetics, and things that interest me. Aren't you excited?

Days Like These
Took some effort putting together my outfit before running errands on this day. I had a hair appointment in West Hollywood and then some errands to run before I went to a friend's house to help get ready for a party. I wanted something comfortable, simple, and as chic as i can be when opting for comfort. For comfort and chic-ness nothing beats a super-thin maxi skirt and cardigan. Days like these, warm and relaxing, are so well spent on the freeway with the windows down and radio blasting. Which I did do much of on my hour long drive to LA...
My outfit, the weather, the freeways, the music. Days like these, I really appreciate living in Southern California.
Skirt: JC Pennys, Tank: I don't remember :|, Cardigan: Forever 21, Scarf: Forever 21,
Miss California- Jack's Mannequin

Casual Wednesday
I spent yesterday with friends. Shopping for a Halloween costume, running errands, and watching a baseball league that a few of our friends play in. I ran around in this awesome trousers but felt like I was in sweats. In a totally "I'm so comfortable, I want to sleep in these when I get home" way versus the "Ew I feel so frumpy please let everyone I know be anywhere but where I am." Which was perfect because I was running around all day! I got this particular pair at Old Navy at the beginning of summer, so I doubt they carry them anymore, but they do have similar ones all over..
Pants- Old Navy, Tee Shirt- Forever 21, Jean Jacket- Nordstroms, Flats- Steve Madden, Scarf- Forever 21, Bag- Rebecca Minkoff
Also, just wanted to share with you a song I'm a little more then obsessed with lately:

The Nineteen Seventies
Went to a friend's house last night and had her take a few shots of my ensemble. I was obviously loving all of the 70's inspired pieces in the shops right now. I wasn't sure how the bell-bottom trend would look on me, but tried these out anyways.

Burnt Paisley
I really enjoy how blogging gives me a reason to go out and run errands/attend class and not wear sweats. (Although sometimes, it happens.) I have always loved that whole updated paisley print and this dress caught my eye not for only that reason, but also the colors. I am a big fan of the burnt orange hue and I think the plum complements it perfectly.
Dress: Forever 21, Sweater: Nordstroms' Brass Plum, Watch: Urban Outfitters, Boots: Forever 21
Thanks for reading, let me know what your favorite wearable colors and patterns are right now! I'm going to try to post more outfit pictures. Until then! Xo, Kaylee.

Stella Does Dots Well
Stella McCartney is a favorite designer of mine. Her winter line consists mostly of sleek and/or boxy silhouettes and a color palette consisting of only black, white, gold, and some navy. I adore the simplicity of her designs and she does dots so perfectly. Polka dots are an upcoming trend and obviously, Stella's in the know.

Probably my first post of many. What does a girl who's going to New York do but dream about what she's going to wear in New York..
Lusting for Snakeskin
Yesterday was the last day of my spending diet. I have done pretty well, but the truth is it wasn't exactly a spending fast, just a diet! And during this last month I been spending whatever is appropriate for my actual income, which I am going to try to keep doing...
With that being said, how could I not buy something fabulous when I found myself at the mall with a friend the day my spending diet ended?! Be aware that I only did buy 1 thing, that was on sale, and this is so absolutely needed. I will be going to New York late November with some close friends and have been searching the internet for amazing clutches. While in Aldo, gushing over all of the incredible bags and clutches, the salesman tells me the snakeskin beauties are going on sale tomorrow and he would lower me the price today. Of course I said yes. So i arrive home with my gorgeous new clutch to Vogue's October issue. I really loved the cover- Michelle Williams- what a babe! And in the magazine there was also a fabulous ad by Nine West, their "Lust List". I really enjoyed the bright colors for fall, fox tails, and (of course, because I am so trendy) Snakeskin!
