Runnin' In Style

When I spend my days running around, which happens very often, I love to wear something comfortable but cute at the same time. Basically, my perfect everyday ensemble consists of a pair of distressed jeans, a graphic tee, and a pair of flat shoes. A small, polished (and sometimes bright) clutch adds just the perfect amount of charm and sophistication to my tee + jeans combination. These clutches from asos are absolutely perfect, and I will now add them to my wishlist. Pick up one of your own, they're only $36 and a great addition to any wardrobe.

Falling for Thigh Highs

Photobucket
This trend is so perfect for fall, especially in warmer places like Southern California. It's a nice way to turn summer looks into fall looks when it starts to get a little chilly. Here are a few of my favorites...

1. Ribbed Lace Thigh High Sock- $34, Urban Outfitters

2. Cotton Solid Thigh High Sock- $18, American Apparel

3. Crochet Thigh Highs- $18, Nastygal.com

Days Like These

Photobucket

Took some effort putting together my outfit before running errands on this day. I had a hair appointment in West Hollywood and then some errands to run before I went to a friend's house to help get ready for a party. I wanted something comfortable, simple, and as chic as i can be when opting for comfort. For comfort and chic-ness nothing beats a super-thin maxi skirt and cardigan. Days like these, warm and relaxing, are so well spent on the freeway with the windows down and radio blasting. Which I did do much of on my hour long drive to LA...

Casual Wednesday

Photobucket

I spent yesterday with friends. Shopping for a Halloween costume, running errands, and watching a baseball league that a few of our friends play in. I ran around in this awesome trousers but felt like I was in sweats. In a totally "I'm so comfortable, I want to sleep in these when I get home" way versus the "Ew I feel so frumpy please let everyone I know be anywhere but where I am." Which was perfect because I was running around all day! I got this particular pair at Old Navy at the beginning of summer, so I doubt they carry them anymore, but they do have similar ones all over..

The Nineteen Seventies

Photobucket

Went to a friend's house last night and had her take a few shots of my ensemble. I was obviously loving all of the 70's inspired pieces in the shops right now. I wasn't sure how the bell-bottom trend would look on me, but tried these out anyways.

Burnt Paisley

Photobucket

I really enjoy how blogging gives me a reason to go out and run errands/attend class and not wear sweats. (Although sometimes, it happens.) I have always loved that whole updated paisley print and this dress caught my eye not for only that reason, but also the colors. I am a big fan of the burnt orange hue and I think the plum complements it perfectly.

Lusting for Snakeskin

Yesterday was the last day of my spending diet. I have done pretty well, but the truth is it wasn't exactly a spending fast, just a diet! And during this last month I been spending whatever is appropriate for my actual income, which I am going to try to keep doing...

With that being said, how could I not buy something fabulous when I found myself at the mall with a friend the day my spending diet ended?! Be aware that I only did buy 1 thing, that was on sale, and this is so absolutely needed. I will be going to New York late November with some close friends and have been searching the internet for amazing clutches. While in Aldo, gushing over all of the incredible bags and clutches, the salesman tells me the snakeskin beauties are going on sale tomorrow and he would lower me the price today. Of course I said yes. So i arrive home with my gorgeous new clutch to Vogue's October issue. I really loved the cover- Michelle Williams- what a babe! And in the magazine there was also a fabulous ad by Nine West, their "Lust List". I really enjoyed the bright colors for fall, fox tails, and (of course, because I am so trendy) Snakeskin!

Summer to Fall

As fall is slowly creeping in on us (despite the INSANE heat wave that just came through southern Ca) my wardrobe is slowing transitioning. I have some fabulous pieces, that include a perfect autumn-esque brown fedora by Jessica Simpson, black combat boots, and a perfect brown faux fur vest that I plan to whip out when the weather cools down. Right now, it's all about transitional pieces.

Today I had class, went to lunch with a couple of girlfriends and ran some errands. This outfit was designed for cuteness and comfort, and the lightweight pieces were perfect for the lingering summer air, although the colors did remind me of the season that we are headed into. I am SO in love with high-waisted trousers right now and these were absolutely perfect (AND a steal-$19.99- from Marshalls of course)! That's what I love about discounted department stores- you are getting fabulous clothing, by fabulous, high-end designers and companies for such amazing prices. In hindsight, I wish I wouldn't have matched that purse with this outfit- I don't like the clashing browns- but what can you do. It's my go to bag and I really do care about a lot less when I am rushing to get to class on a Monday morning!

To Keep or Not to Keep- Dolce Vita Booties

Photobucket
I am second-guessing these booties, that did happen to be an impulse buy-on my spending diet, which is incredibly forbidden... But they are so cute! I'm feeling very indecisive. Can't someone just tell me what to do! Better yet, buy them for me?

Pros: 1. LOOK AT THEM 2. Perfect Fall Shoe 3. Very comfortable and versatile. 4. They were cheaper then I'm going to find them anywhere else.
Cons: 1. They are a major no-no on my diet. Basically the equivalent of a double chocolate chip fudge brownie... 2. The ankle support is not great; my feet tend to slip out of them.

Peeling my Summer Skin

Tomorrow is my first day of school! I will be starting my second year of college and I feel very indifferent about it. I am taking Economics, Political Science, Intro to the Fashion Industry, Speech, Algebra, and Psychology. To say I have a lot on my plate is a bit of an understatement. Oh well! I'll just have to take it day by day!

On a lighter note, yesterday night while I was stalking my favorite blogs, I came across the most adorable way to wear your scarves. Franceta from Frantic Dreams provided me with the most perfect DIY and I was so excited when my parents decided we were going out to dinner tonight so that I had somewhere to integrate this perfect fall accessory. I had also just picked up a new lipstick by Revlon in the shade Berry Haute and was also excited to try that out. So all in all, it was a relaxing fashion-filled last day of summer.

Viva Las Vegas

Today my family and I made our way to Las Vegas. It was about a four hour drive that started at about 9am. Unfortunately I have been feeling a little under the weather and today the dry (and later humid) air just really screwed over my sinuses. I'm actually pretty nervous to wake up tomorrow morning and feel super shitty. But I will do everything possible to prevent this (although my love for 55 degree hotel temperature makes this even more difficult). I'm thinking ton of blankets, furry socks, and some nyquil. Tomorrow we'll lay by the pool all day, do some shopping and walk the strip and then we'll do dinner tomorrow night, see a show and I'll ride the zipline in downtown, where we're staying, eeek!

Despite my slight sickness, I made a bit of effort to get dressed today (Yes, only a bit). Since I didn't have anyone to take pictures for me (my parents were out and my brother hardly counts), I just too a few on my webcam in my hotel room. I was wearing a cheap black tank that I cut up (I'm thinking Hanes or something generic like that), along with a allover lace cream-colored maxi skirt I got from a boutique near my house paired with a belt for Forever 21. I also wore a ring and headband from Forever 21 and flip-flops from Old Navy.

Easily one of my favorite buys this summer. It really is perfect and maxi skirts are perfect for style AND comfort. Yay.

DIY: feather earrings

Summer in California always means tons of fun trends. These seem to be ever-fleeting, and real easy to get sick of when EVERYONE is doing it (i.e. the feather extension). That's why, occasionally when i'm feeling extra inspired i'll see what I have around the house a whip of a few pieces on my own. Yesterday I went to my local craft store and picked up some supplies to make my own feather earrings. I collected two cheap bags of feathers, a few tools (hand picked from dads toolbox), some silver plated wire, earring hooks, and some chains from old necklaces i didn't mind taking apart for a grand total of about 12 dollars. I figure this will get you two, maybe three pairs of earrings at forever 21 and pay for 3/4 of a pair at urban outfitters. But really, it's not all about the price. The best part is the bragging rights about your very own handmade gorgeous earrings. "OMG I absolutely looove your earrings where did you get them?!" "Oh thanks so much, they're nothing really, just made them myself." And then, suddenly everyone is lusting after your extremly talented abilities. So far, I've made three very different pairs and have many supplies left over for when inspiration strikes yet again.

Cheap Trends

When I go to my local mall, I know I can always find the trendiest, cheapest buys at stores like Forever 21 and H&M. That's why when I am not lusting after one particular item or the need to dig through trash and treasures (aka thrifting), I head to these stores. This last Sunday I was instead just craving (a description I believe most shopping addicts could admit to feeling) the shops. I bought just a few items, thanks to my low budget, but it was a very successful trip.

Photobucket
Forever 21: Blouse, watch, turban/headband, flats, H&M: Denim shirt

Photobucket
I was most excited about this gold watch from Forever. It was $19.95 which is a lot more expensive than all of their jewelry which led me to believe that (hopefully) it is better quality than the rest. Either way, I would have paid double for this particular watch in a second.

Photobucket
I have been a little obsessed with then turban-like headbands more then ever lately and this gorgeous (not to mention crazy cheap) headband was no exception.

I have been so obsessed with shopping lately (a bit more then usual) So it's great to have a place like Forever 21 to impulse shop and not feel regretful later. However, watch out for their really terrible (I'm sorry, it's true) return policy. Make sure to keep the tags on until you're SURE you want to keep the item. That's all for now. Thanks so so much for reading! :)
