Summer to Fall

As fall is slowly creeping in on us (despite the INSANE heat wave that just came through southern Ca) my wardrobe is slowing transitioning. I have some fabulous pieces, that include a perfect autumn-esque brown fedora by Jessica Simpson, black combat boots, and a perfect brown faux fur vest that I plan to whip out when the weather cools down. Right now, it's all about transitional pieces.

Today I had class, went to lunch with a couple of girlfriends and ran some errands. This outfit was designed for cuteness and comfort, and the lightweight pieces were perfect for the lingering summer air, although the colors did remind me of the season that we are headed into. I am SO in love with high-waisted trousers right now and these were absolutely perfect (AND a steal-$19.99- from Marshalls of course)! That's what I love about discounted department stores- you are getting fabulous clothing, by fabulous, high-end designers and companies for such amazing prices. In hindsight, I wish I wouldn't have matched that purse with this outfit- I don't like the clashing browns- but what can you do. It's my go to bag and I really do care about a lot less when I am rushing to get to class on a Monday morning!

Top- Random boutique in random mall (Can't remember!)
Trousers- Marshalls (by Highway Jeans)
Flats- Steve Madden
All Jewelry- Brass Plum in Nordstroms
Bag- Forever 21

Thanks for reading! Until next time...

To Keep or Not to Keep- Dolce Vita Booties

Photobucket
I am second-guessing these booties, that did happen to be an impulse buy-on my spending diet, which is incredibly forbidden... But they are so cute! I'm feeling very indecisive. Can't someone just tell me what to do! Better yet, buy them for me?

Pros: 1. LOOK AT THEM 2. Perfect Fall Shoe 3. Very comfortable and versatile. 4. They were cheaper then I'm going to find them anywhere else.
Cons: 1. They are a major no-no on my diet. Basically the equivalent of a double chocolate chip fudge brownie... 2. The ankle support is not great; my feet tend to slip out of them.

My Favorites

So, for lack of a better post, I am going to show you some things that I have been using/watching/doing often so you can get interested and use/watch/do them because they are Uh-MAze-Ing. But first, I would just like to say that I have been gone fore so long, which makes me a terrible blogger, but I will be around much more often and have great ideas for the next few posts. Thanks for reading...Here we go with my favorites.
Photobucket

1. Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Acne Wash by Neutrogena. This product is so amazing. I literally want to take showers/wash my face more often just because of this product. First of all, the smell is probably on my list of all-time favorite smells (along with the streets after the rain and this incredible peppermint candle). Seriously, it smells so good, it almost tastes good. Second, my face feels like a baby's butt after I wash my face. Literally, A BABY'S BOTTOM. Who doesn't want that?! It's cheapest at Wal-Mart. Go go go!
2. Big Brother on CBS Tu/Th/Sun. Seriously, what other show is on this often (not reruns)? I kind of think that's one of the reasons I love it so much, I don't forget anything. Also, I don't recommend tuning in right now if you haven't been watching, because it's too late in the game, but I am so addicted. If you watch this can we please chat about it?! Lastly, I would have hated myself for saying this one month ago, buttttt, Team Rachel. (Whaaaaaat?!?!)
3. Faux Fur. Okay, so I did recently buy a faux fur vest that I am so incredibly excited to wear. I am on my sending diet, but it has been seriously the only thing I have bought (aside from cheap lunch a couple times, and gas) for myself! I am okay with that. But really, I wanna go shopping soooo baddd! 16 day left...
4. Garden State Soundtrack. This album is one of my favorites and reminds me of a certain school year/summer from a while back. it has a bit of sentimental value to me but really is a great mixture of really great songs. I'm pretty positive Zach Braff picked out all the music for the movie, and also does the same for Scrubs (You can tell..). I do really enjoy his taste in music. My favorite songs are Fair by Remy Zero and In the Waiting Line by Zero 7.
5. Cycling (aka Spinning). I couldn't find a spinning machine on polyvore -_-, but that is what I want this bike to represent. I have been doing the cycling class at my gym lately and I really love it. That's all.
6. Flip-flops. I do feel like such a lazy Californian when I wear flip-flops but come on! They are SO easy! And 2 for $5 at Old Navy! But I swear, fall is coming fast and I am planning on trading in my flip-flops for flats and boots. ...but really, 2 for $5!

My Own "Spending Diet"

Until I win the lottery or marry a prince, I am forced to watch what I spend my money on. This is why I've decided to go on a spending diet. There are many costly things I would like to spend my money on (i.e. new ipod, small digital camera, ...apartment!) But I will definitely not have enough money to buy those things without saving up! I've come across many money-saving blogs that have sparked my interest to the idea of a "spending diet." This can last however long you choose, in my case one month.

I have gotten to a point where my closet is full and my wallet is so empty. My debt is higher then I want it to be. Whether I'm at the mall buying a pair of shoes or at Wal Mart buying some candy and a DVD, I'm finding myself handing over my credit card much too often. That's why, for one month exactly, I'm forcing myself to pay for only the bare minimum. My spending diet will start today, August 20th and end on September 20th. This month I have to pay for books, bills, and gas, and hopefully not too much else. I believe that writing this down in a public forum will help me stick to my word. Thanks for reading and wish me luck!

Autumn Inspiration

Autumn really is one of my favorite seasons here in California... not that we get too much of it. But California's fall is all I know and I am perfectly okay with that! I don't know what it is about the season. Maybe it's the feeling of a fresh start. I do feel like the new year starts in September, as opposed to January. But that's really only because i'm still a student. I'm in my 14th year of learning, pretty impressive huh? ...Okay, you got me. Fall is my favorite season for one reason and one reason only. (I can pretend it's the excuse for a fresh start.) It's the excuse for a new wardrobe.

Polyvore.com always helps me get inspired..

Peeling my Summer Skin

Tomorrow is my first day of school! I will be starting my second year of college and I feel very indifferent about it. I am taking Economics, Political Science, Intro to the Fashion Industry, Speech, Algebra, and Psychology. To say I have a lot on my plate is a bit of an understatement. Oh well! I'll just have to take it day by day!

On a lighter note, yesterday night while I was stalking my favorite blogs, I came across the most adorable way to wear your scarves. Franceta from Frantic Dreams provided me with the most perfect DIY and I was so excited when my parents decided we were going out to dinner tonight so that I had somewhere to integrate this perfect fall accessory. I had also just picked up a new lipstick by Revlon in the shade Berry Haute and was also excited to try that out. So all in all, it was a relaxing fashion-filled last day of summer.

Viva Las Vegas

Today my family and I made our way to Las Vegas. It was about a four hour drive that started at about 9am. Unfortunately I have been feeling a little under the weather and today the dry (and later humid) air just really screwed over my sinuses. I'm actually pretty nervous to wake up tomorrow morning and feel super shitty. But I will do everything possible to prevent this (although my love for 55 degree hotel temperature makes this even more difficult). I'm thinking ton of blankets, furry socks, and some nyquil. Tomorrow we'll lay by the pool all day, do some shopping and walk the strip and then we'll do dinner tomorrow night, see a show and I'll ride the zipline in downtown, where we're staying, eeek!

Despite my slight sickness, I made a bit of effort to get dressed today (Yes, only a bit). Since I didn't have anyone to take pictures for me (my parents were out and my brother hardly counts), I just too a few on my webcam in my hotel room. I was wearing a cheap black tank that I cut up (I'm thinking Hanes or something generic like that), along with a allover lace cream-colored maxi skirt I got from a boutique near my house paired with a belt for Forever 21. I also wore a ring and headband from Forever 21 and flip-flops from Old Navy.

Easily one of my favorite buys this summer. It really is perfect and maxi skirts are perfect for style AND comfort. Yay.

Is it even possible to not take a silly picture every time you use photobooth?
